Conan Silveira was born in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil on December 9th, 1964.
Conan began his martial arts journey in his early-teens , at the legendary Carlson Gracie Academy in Rio. He loved the hard training and comradely with his teammates. By his early 20’s, Conan was looking to go venture outside his comfort zone and settled in the United States to spread his Jiu-Jitsu knowledge.
Without speaking the language or much money in his pocket, Conan persevered until he was able to open up his own academy branch of Carlson Gracie Team (Silveira Brothers BJJ) in Miami Beach circa 1992.
As the sport of MMA or better know back then as “No Holds Barred” was gaining tradition in United States, Conan was invited to participate in the Battle Cage Extreme Fighting tournament, where he became the Heavyweight Champion. While successfully running his academy in Miami, Conan continued his MMA training and fought in UFC’s first tournament in Japan in 1997.
Around 2001, Conan co-founded American Top Team with the goal of guiding the team into the next era of MMA. Conan now oversees (as Head Coach) the daily training regimes of many MMA fighters including UFC, Bellator, OneFC, and PFL champions on a daily basis. In his leisure time, Conan looks to spend time with his family (& the Dome) and give back to the sport and community when possible. He currently holds the rank of 6th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and continues to help teach, coach, and mentor the athletes and push them in a positive direction every chance he gets.
