Jamie Levine - also known as the Godfather of MMA - was a pioneer of mixed martial arts and combat sports.
Levine trained in martial arts and wrestling from a young age. Turning to Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the early 90's training with Marcello Grosso and later Ross Kellin.
Levine founded World Extreme Fighting (WEF) in 1997, one of the biggest fight promotions ever, rivaling the UFC. WEF promoted 47 successful shows, with notable names such as Rich Franklin, Jeremy Horn, and Matt Hughes all participating in fights. Jamie himself was an undefeated MMA fighter with a 4-0 record. Jamie gave people a chance to make their dreams come true, giving them an opportunity to fight when others would not. He was a pioneer of the sport of MMA and a staunch supporter of the sport and its fighters. He helped coach and train many of the early fighters in Florida many of which still teach thought the country.
Jamie died on January 14th, 2014 from a blood clot.
He leaves behind 2 sons - Cody and Xander.
